Quick Verdict
The Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni is the best robot vacuum mop combo we've tested. Its square design isn't a gimmick—it genuinely cleans corners and edges better than round robots. The 8,000 Pa suction handles everything from fine dust to pet hair, and the rotating mop pads actually scrub (unlike most competitors).
The catch? At $1,499, it's expensive. But if you want a truly hands-free cleaning experience that covers vacuuming AND mopping, this is as good as it gets in 2026.
✓ What We Love
- Square design = real corner cleaning
- 8,000 Pa suction (highest we've tested)
- Rotating mop pads scrub effectively
- Mop lifts 15mm over carpets
- All-in-one dock with hot water washing
- YIKO voice assistant built-in
- Excellent obstacle avoidance
✗ What Could Be Better
- $1,499 is steep (often on sale for $1,199)
- Square shape can occasionally get stuck
- Dock is large (needs 20" clearance)
- Water tank needs refilling every 2-3 uses
- App has learning curve
Square Design: Why It Matters
Every other flagship robot vacuum is round. Ecovacs went square, and after testing, we get why.
Round robots leave a small arc of uncleaned space in every corner—about 2-3 inches depending on the model. The X2 Omni's square front gets within half an inch of walls and all the way into corners. In a 2,000 sq ft home, that adds up to several square feet of previously unreachable space.
We tested this in our corner debris challenge: dropped coffee grounds into a 90-degree corner. The X2 Omni picked up 94% on the first pass. The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra got 71%. The Roomba j7+ got 68%.
The tradeoff: The square shape very occasionally gets wedged in tight spots where a round robot would pivot out. In 3 months of daily use, this happened twice—both times under a specific chair leg configuration that we fixed by moving the chair 2 inches.
Vacuuming Performance
8,000 Pa of suction is overkill for most homes—but it means the X2 Omni handles everything effortlessly.
- Fine dust: Perfect. The main brush + edge brush combo leaves hard floors spotless.
- Pet hair: Excellent. Our test home has a Golden Retriever, and the X2 handles shedding season without getting tangled.
- Carpet deep clean: Auto-boost kicks suction to max on carpet. It extracts embedded debris better than most uprights.
- Large debris: Handles cereal, rice, and small toys without pushing them around.
The anti-tangle dual brush system actually works. In 3 months, we've never had to cut hair out of the roller—a first for any robot vacuum we've tested.
Mopping: Best We've Tested
Most robot mops just drag a wet cloth around. The X2 Omni's dual rotating pads spin at 180 RPM and apply consistent downward pressure. It actually scrubs.
Real-world results:
- Dried coffee spills: Removed in 2 passes
- Muddy paw prints: Gone in 1 pass
- Week-old kitchen grease: Required 3 passes, but came up clean
The 15mm mop lift is critical—when it detects carpet, the pads rise automatically. Other robots either drag wet pads across carpet or require manual mop removal.
Navigation & Obstacle Avoidance
Ecovacs uses dual LiDAR + 3D structured light for navigation. Translation: it sees everything.
In testing, the X2 Omni avoided:
- Pet bowls (correctly identified, even when empty)
- Cables and cords (navigated around without pushing)
- Shoes and socks on the floor
- Dog toys (most of them—it struggled with a flat rope toy)
- Dark furniture legs (a challenge for camera-only systems)
It never ran over anything it shouldn't. Compare this to budget robots that will gleefully spread a knocked-over plant across three rooms.
The OMNI Station
The all-in-one dock handles everything:
- Auto-empty: 75 days between bag changes (claimed; we hit 60 days with daily cleaning)
- Hot water mop washing: 131°F water kills bacteria—the mop pads come out genuinely clean
- Hot air drying: Pads dry in 2 hours, preventing mildew
- Self-refilling: 4L clean water tank, 4L dirty water tank
The downside: It's big. You need a spot that's 17" wide × 20" deep × 20" tall. It won't fit in a closet.
Deebot X2 Omni vs. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
| Feature | Ecovacs X2 Omni | Roborock S8 Pro Ultra |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $1,499 | $1,399 |
| Suction | 8,000 Pa | 6,000 Pa |
| Shape | Square | Round |

Bottom line: The X2 Omni is better for homes with lots of corners, hard floors that need scrubbing, or pet owners who want the best mop performance. The S8 Pro Ultra is $100 cheaper and has a slightly smaller dock—choose it if you're space-constrained or prioritize carpet performance.
